Super Mario RPG – Legend of the Seven Stars: Part 4

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00000 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00001

It’s been a couple of weeks since I made a video game journal. I honestly forgot what I was even doing in Super Mario RPG. The first area I went to was this strange, one section plain. The only thing in this area was a single warp pipe. Upon entering the pipe, I found an area that had lava everywhere. I tried to jump across the area, but it was too far. So, I left the area, and moved on to the next one.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00002 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00003

The next place I went to was a town called Moleville (I hope I spelled that right), and the inhabitants were (that’s right, you guessed it) Moles. Not long after I entered the town, I was told that a star had fallen into the mine, trapping a father and his children inside. After talking to everyone I could, I headed to the mine, which was conveniently at the edge of town.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00006

On the way, I heard an extremely strange noise. To be honest, it nearly made me jump out of my seat, I thought it was a monster coming to get me and drag me away to its lair, where it would eat me. But it was just Bowser. He and what few minions he had left were regrouping. As Bowser is trying to reassure his troops, he mentions that if Mario found out he was kicked out of his own castle, his reputation would be shot. Well, it’s a little too late to worry about that, Bowser.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00007 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00008

After Bowser and his troops left, I continued on to the mine. Once inside, I found out that the Moles couldn’t dig their way into the mine, and that Mario would have to jump off of their shoulders to reach the other entrance into the mine that was above the rubble (convenient entrance is convenient). After jumping off their shoulders, I was in the mine. And there was moving rocks, and living fireballs, and it. Was. Scary.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00009 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00010 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00011 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00012

After I went through a few areas in the mine (and ran in fear for my life from the living fireballs), I came to a three-way crossroad. One of the ways that could be taken was a spring, and being the type of person I am, I tried it first. Which turned out to be what I was supposed to do. Upon trying the spring, Mario hits his head on the ceiling and passes out, leaving him vulnerable to the thieves that come along and steal all of his coins. But at least, in their haste to escape, they cleared the blocked paths in the mine with the bombs they brought along. That’s good, right? While I was chasing them, Geno leveled up, and I realized that he is two levels lower than Mario and Mallow.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00014 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00015 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00016 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00017 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00018 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00019

Eventually, I caught the thieves and fought them until they gave me back my money. After that, I went deeper into the mine and found the father who had gotten trapped down here. He then tells Mario that his kids are deeper in the mine (of course), and asks if Mario can save them for him. Mario agrees to help (like all heroes do), and deeper into the mines they go. While I was trying to find the kids, everyone leveled up. I also had to cross a bridge with four Bob-ombs marching across it, which I found pretty intimidating.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00021 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00022 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00023 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00025 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00026 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00027

Next came the boss fight. In my opinion, this was the easiest boss fight so far. I mean, yeah, the HUGE Bob-ombs that he had were definitely startling, but he still wasn’t hard to defeat. In an attempt to keep himself from losing, Punchinello brings out the biggest Bob-omb in history. Which, despite Mario and co’s best efforts, exploded. But, at least, the explosion knocked the Star Piece loose, allowing us to claim our third Star Piece. Four more to go!

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00028 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00029 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00030 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 4_00031

After defeating the boss, I went even deeper into the mine and found the kids I was looking for. The next step was getting them out of the mine in one piece, and the only way to do that was to ride a mine cart out of the mine. My game glitched while I was riding it and the camera angle was fixed like it is in Donkey Kong Country. The track went up and down like a wave. But, as I was riding here, the track straightened itself out, but Mario and the cart kept going up and down like they were still on the hills! Anyway, after reaching the end of the track (and crashing through the Mole family I was helping’s roof) I stepped outside to find three Snifits trying to catch a beetle. They said they were catching it for Boomer. I’m pretty sure I’ve run into Boomer before (or at least heard of him), but I don’t remember for sure. That’s what happens when I stop playing a game for a while.

Well, that’s all I played today. Hopefully, I’ll have a new chapter of Trainer Strawberry up this week. Then I should stay on track for a while.

Super Mario RPG – Legend of the Seven Stars: Part 3

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 3_00000 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 3_00002

After meeting Mallow’s grandfather, it’s time to head to a new town (I think it was called Rose Town, but I’m not for sure). Along the way, we run into Bowser, who also can’t reach his castle. When we run into him, he is assembling troops, which gives the impression that he is going to war with the giant sword that is in his castle.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 3_00003

Upon reaching the town, we find that it (of course) has a serious problem. Arrows rain from the forest, and whenever they hit someone, they are unable to move. But they can still talk, so I still went around the town and talked to everyone I could.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 3_00004 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 3_00005 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 3_00007

The first place I entered was the Inn. Upon entering, I found a young Toad playing with a Mario, Peach, and Bowser toy. When the little boy realizes that Mario has just walked through the door, he asks him to play with him, Mario agrees. The kid (whose name is Gaz) gets a toy named “Geno”, and gives Mario the Bowser toy to play with. The two then proceed to make their toys battle. During the battle, Gaz has Geno fire some sort of projectile. Even though he was aiming for the Bowser toy, he misses and hits Mario instead, causing Mario to pass out. So much for being the world’s last hope, huh? While Mario is recovering, a shooting star comes along and brings the toy to life. After the toy wakes up, it stumbles around a little, then walks out the door. After Mario wakes up and walks downstairs, Gaz runs into the Inn and says that he saw Geno walking into the forest. Of course, Gaz’s mom doesn’t believe him, much to his dismay. But Mario thinks it’s worth checking out.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 3_00008

Before I went to the forest, I checked out the other buildings in the town. I’m glad I did, because if I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have gotten directions to a treasure.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 3_00009 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 3_00010 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 3_00011 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 3_00013 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 3_00014

After talking to everyone in town, I headed to the forest. I really liked the background music that played here. I usually don’t notice music in video games (or movies, cartoons, TV shows, and anime). Wasn’t the theme for this place remixed for Super Smash Bros. Brawl? Anyway, Mario and Mallow leveled up twice while fighting some enemies.

Remember that treasure I mentioned earlier? This is it.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 3_00016 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 3_00017 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 3_00018

After running through a maze and chasing Geno, I found the boss. His name is Bowyer, and he looks like a bow (very funny, Producers). He even shoots arrows-namely the arrows that plague the town. Go figure, right? He also talks like Yoda, which is a nice touch. Wonder I do, if watching Star Wars the producers had been. By the way, Nintendo and Square, I love the Bruce Lee reference. Anyway, not long after Mario and Mallow find Bowyer, one of his henchmen find the star piece I’m looking for. But before he can give it to Bowyer, Geno shows up and demands that Bowyer stop firing his arrows at the town. Bowyer, of course, refuses. So, Geno proceeds to fight Bowyer. Mario and Mallow then rush to his aid.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 3_00019 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 3_00021 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 3_00022Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 3_00023

After defeating Bowyer, Geno reveals that he is actually a star, and that he is merely using the doll to move around in Mario’s world. He then proceeds to tell Mario and Mallow that the star pieces are actually pieces of Star Road, and that if Smithy isn’t defeated and Star Road isn’t repaired, there won’t be any more wishes that are granted in Mario’s world. He then tells us that his name is Heart-Music Note-Exclamation Mark-Question Mark, but since that’s hard to pronounce, he says we can call him Geno. Which is good because I don’t speak Symbol-ese. Anyway, that’s all I got done in Super Mario RPG today.

Super Mario RPG – Legend of the Seven Stars: Part 2

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00000 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00001 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00002 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00003

Okay, time to catch that thieving reptile! In the second area of his level, you are required to jump on the yellow blocks to get to the other side to catch him. But, what’s this?! There’s only two blocks to jump on! Good thing the back on moves to the front when you jump on the one in the front. So, all you have to do to get across is just keep jumping. In the third area, all you have to do is follow Mr. Reptile to the other side. There are some enemies in this area, you can avoid them, but I chose to fight them for the EXP points. I have learned from other RPGs that it’s a good idea to level up while the enemies are weak, because they will get tougher later on.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00005 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00006

After going through another area with two treasure chests and some enemies (which I didn’t get a screenshot of), the reptile realizes he’s cornered and decides to hide. He is terrible at hide-and-seek, though. Seriously, he hides out in the open! Anyway, you have to sneak up behind him three times before he admits that you have caught him. Now, I know that this sounds easy, and it is, but it is also pretty annoying. He turns around when you get close, and if you wait to long, he dashes off to another hiding place. This probably would have been a lot easier for me if I had known how to run at this time, but since I didn’t know how to run, I had to walk after the guy. I found out how to run later, though; you press the Y button.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00009 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00010 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00011

When you finally catch the reptile, he pretends to give up, only to turn around and attack you. He’s not difficult to defeat, however, although he could be annoying if he restores his HP enough. Anyway, when he gets low, he will give Mallow back the coin he stole from him before running off.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00013 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00014 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00015

After he leaves, you will find a wallet lying on the ground and a spring that will take you back to the first area of the level will appear. After you jump on the spring, it’s just a short walk before you leave the level. On the way there, since I fight almost every enemy I see, Mario leveled up.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00016 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00017

Upon returning to Toad Town, you find that it has been completely overrun by Shyguys on pogosticks! The first sign of this you will get is the poor Toad who forgot his bazooka at home being chased by one of the Masked Bouncers. After saving him, he will give you ten coins as thanks.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00018 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00019 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00020

After that, I went to rescue all the other Toads in Toad Town. I don’t think you have to do this, but I wanted to. I mean, come on! They give you items for crying out loud! That should be incentive enough! By the way, Flower Tabs raise your MP level. MP is required to perform special attacks. A special “Thank you” to Stina for telling me this. It made battles a lot easier.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00021 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00022

When you enter the castle, you can talk to the Vault Guard (who will be hiding in the guest room) and he will give you a Wake Up Pin, which prevents you from falling asleep. After that, head to the room on the left from the main hallway. There will be some Toads who need your help in the top room. After you help them they will give you a Flower Tab and inform you that the Chancellor is trapped in the throne room. Alright, I’ll go save him. But if he turns out to be a Sith in disguise, and shocks my with lightning from his hands, I’m blaming you, Bob.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00024 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00025 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00026 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00027 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00028 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00029

Upon entering the throne room, you find that the Shyguys are being led by a bouncing, talking sword name Mack. I know what you’re thinking, “Mack is the best villain name ever.” Well, you’re right. He wasn’t hard to defeat, however, although it would have been easier if he didn’t have so many bodyguards. After I defeated him, both Mario and Mallow leveled up and learned new moves. Another special “Thank you” to Stina for explaining how those worked to me as well.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00030 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00031 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00032

After defeating Mack, a blue star shows up at the back of the room. It then flies over to Mario, and you’ve gotten your first Star Piece! Six more to go. You then find the Chancellor cowering in the corner. After the guards return, Mario and the Chancellor are at a loss for what to do next. The Mallow suggests that he and Mario talk to his grandpa because “He knows…EVERYTHING!”

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00034 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00035 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00036

Unfortunately, you have to go through some sewers before you can speak to Mallow’s grandpa. Which brings up the question, why does Nintendo make the sewers so maze-like in Mario games? After wandering around randomly for a while, I found a treasure chest that had a monster inside. After defeating it you get a Trueform Pin. You’re gonna wanna get that pin and equip it, because, believe me, it will save you a lot an annoyance later on. I didn’t equip it when I got it, and that caused me to take longer to get out of there than it would have if I had worn it. During some of the battles in the sewer, Mario leveled up again.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00037 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00038

Eventually, I found the right pipe. Inside was a switch that drained the water and allowed me to move on through the level.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00040 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00041

After going down a pipe that had previously been underwater, the time had come to fight the boss and get outta here. This is where the Trueform Pin comes in handy. The pin prevents you from turning into a scarecrow or mushroom. At first, I thought that was just silly. But it turns out, this boss has the ability to turn you and your partner into scarecrows! While you’re a scarecrow, you can only use special attacks. And eventually, you’ll run out of MP to perform those attacks. When that happens, you’ll just have to defend until the status condition wears off.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00042Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00043Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars 2_00044

Upon defeating the boss, you find out that he was the only thing keeping the place from flooding! Oops. Mario and Mallow are washed out of the sewer and sent spiraling down a waterfall. Nintendo took this as the opportunity to put a minigame in there. The object of the minigame is to grab as many coins as you can while you fall. If you get sixty of them, the Toad at the bottom will give you a Frog Coin. Unfortunately, I didn’t get sixty coins, but I did nab some of the Frog Coins that are mixed in with the regular coins as I fell down the waterfall. Anyway, when you arrive at where Mallow’s grandpa lives, your first task is to find and talk to him. He then reveals a not-so-shocking fact, Mallow is not actually a frog. Dun dun dun. Apparently, Mallow’s grandpa found him in a basket that had fallen from the waterfall. The name Mallow was written on the baby’s belt, so that is what the grandpa named him. After you talk to Mallow’s grandpa, you can play another minigame of sorts where you have to get the tadpoles to play the right melody in order to inspire a musician that is there at the pond. Upon playing the right song (which a tadpole in another area will tell you), the musician rewards you with an Alto Card. I’m not sure what this does, so I’ll have to look the next time I play. Until next time!

Later.

A New Game! Super Mario RPG – Legend of the Seven Stars: Part 1

This post is one day early, but I don’t think anyone will mind. Anyway, I asked if anyone had any requests for games they wanted me to play, and Stina of JaNanamation requested that I play either The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker or Super Mario RPG – Legend of the Seven Stars. I decided to play Super Mario RPG, so here is the first installment of my video game journal of Super Mario RPG.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00000 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00001

So, this game starts off like any other Mario game, everything is peaceful and happy. Suddenly, Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach (or Toadstool, as she’s called in this game)! My, what a big surprise! Never would’ve seen that coming.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00002

Anyway, Mario chases after Bowser, and ends up right outside his castle. When Mario arrives the doors are closed, but as he gets closer, they open automatically for him. Wait, what? Okay, I’m going to call it. It’s a trap!

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00003 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00004

For the entire first three rooms (and a while after that) the battle system in this game was totally confusing to me. I’m not sure why, I mean it’s almost exactly like the one in Paper Mario. But during these first three rooms, I was constantly thinking “Okay, what am I supposed to do?”. I think I have it figured out know, so hopefully my confusion won’t be repeated.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00005 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00007

Once you get to the third room, you will find Peach hanging from the ceiling. The camera will slide upwards, and you will see Bowser hanging out on one of the chandeliers. Mario will then do an impossible feat, and jump right onto the other chandelier. Once he’s up there, the fight against Bowser begins! I honestly thought that this battle would go exactly like it did in Paper Mario, with Bowser showing that he’s way too tough for you right now. But that wasn’t the case. After hitting Bowser a few times, Peach will tell you to attack the chain. After hitting the chain, it will let go of the chandelier Bowser is on. But before he falls, he attacks the chain holding the chandelier Mario is standing on. This was kinda weird, though, because from how fast the chandeliers were falling, and how much of a drop it appeared to be, you would think Mario and Bowser were fighting at the same height as a skyscraper.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00008 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00010

Mario manages to jump back up to where Peach is, and I thought I was done. I was wrong. I don’t remember what it was that knocked Mario out of the castle, but something did. And seven stars started shooting all across the sky before a giant sword stabbed the castle. After being sent flying out of the castle, Mario conveniently lands in his house by falling through his chimney (which looks like a warp pipe by the way). A Toad happens to be waiting for Mario when he crashes into his house. When the Toad walks in to see what is happening, he gives one of the best witty remarks I’ve ever read, “Hey, Mario. Lots of people use something called a ‘door’ to go in and out of their houses…”. I’ve heard/read that remark before, but somehow, when the Toad used it, it seemed ten times funnier.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00011 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00013

Once you walk outside, you are able to go back to Bowser’s castle. At this point I’m thinking “There’s no way it’s this easy”, and I was right. When you go to Bowser’s castle this time the doors do not open, and instead the giant sword that stabbed the castle earlier starts…talking to you? Yep. A talking sword. I bet he’s the bad guy. The sword informs you that the Smithy Gang (I think that’s their name, I knew I should’ve wrote this down as I went) would already be ruling the world if it wasn’t for nosy people like Mario. After that, he destroys the bridge, making the castle completely inaccessible.

This is what Mario's house looks like.

This is what Mario’s house looks like.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00015 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00016 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00017

Since you can’t get to Bowser’s castle, the only thing you can do is go back to Mario’s house. Mario then tells the Toad that he can’t access Bowser’s castle anymore. The Toad immediately panics and tells Mario that they need to inform the Mushroom Kingdom Chancellor ASAP. You then have the option of viewing a tutorial of how to use items from the start menu, and how to perform timed attacks. Unfortunately, my game kept freezing every time I tried to view the menu tutorial, and I didn’t even try to view the timed attacks one. I’m not sure if it was the tutorial itself, or if it was the menu screen, but something was causing my game to freeze, and I’m assuming it was the tutorial. Needless to say, I’ve skipped every tutorial since then, but I get this feeling that it’s going to cause me trouble later. Anyway, the Toad then takes off to go to Toad Town. Unfortunately, the path is overrun with Goombas, and it doesn’t take long for the Toad to get captured. I should probably mention that I actually died to a Sky Troopa here. Yeah. Not one of my best moments. Anyway, after you save the Toad, he gives you some Honey Syrup, an item that restores ten HP.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00024 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00020

In the next area, the Toad is once again captured, but this time by a Sky Troopa. Upon saving him, he will reward you with a Flower Tab, and I have no idea what that does. I probably should’ve checked. It might have come in handy. You know, I think this Toad needs a name, don’t you? How’s about…Bob. Yeah, I think that’s a good name. After Bob gives you the Flower Tab, he rushes onward…

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00021 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00022 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00023

…Only to get captured once again. This time by a Hammer Bro. After the Hammer Bro tells you not to come any closer because “My hammer and I don’t like you” Bob warns you that this is one tough cookie. And he was right! Or at least, I thought he was tough. I actually died from this guy-twice! I leveled up on my way back to him, though, so it wasn’t a complete waste.

I think I've found Bob's problem.

I think I’ve found Bob’s problem.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00026

After finally defeating the Hammer Bro, you get his hammer. Finally! A weapon! Now Mario doesn’t have to punch the enemies! Speaking of which, does anyone know if Mario takes damage from jumping on spiked enemies? I know he does in other games, but from what I’ve seen so far, spikes don’t seem to have too much bearing in a battle in this game.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00027 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00028

After you get the hammer, you finally reach Toad Town. Now, I don’t know if any of you awesome readers do this, but when I get to a new town (and sometimes when I revisit a town), I talk to everyone I can. While doing so, I entered the Toad Town Inn, and in the back corner was the gem of a Toad that I put a screenshot of above. All I could see was Mario walking up to the Toad and saying “Hi’a, Buddy! How’s it’a going?”, and the Toad giving his response. I’m not sure what he’s doing, but he definitely isn’t happy about it. I personally think he’s either washing or drying dishes. What do you think he’s doing?

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00029 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00030

After talking to everyone in Toad Town, I entered the castle. Once I explored all around it, I walked straight back to where the Chancellor is. I’d just like to mention that, ever since Star Wars, I do not trust Chancellors. So, I’m going to be watching my back whenever this guys around. Upon arriving, Bob joins the line of castle guards, which I guess means Bob himself is a castle guard. I believe I have found the root of the Mushroom Kingdoms problem, and the reason Bowser is able to kidnap Peach so often. It is also during this section that I found out that Mario is the best storyteller. Ever. He would also be great at charades. Anyway, after asking where the Princess is, and finding out that she has been kidnapped once again, the Chancellor gives you a map. I’m not sure if this is the overworld map, or if it’s some sort of town map. Do any of you awesome readers know which it is?

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00031 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00032 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00033

Upon leaving the castle, a creature that appears to be a cloud calls for help. He has just been robbed by some sort of Reptile (one of the Toads in town says it’s a Crocodile, but I think it looks like a Raptor). When the cloud is unable to catch the thief, he begins to cry, causing it to begin raining cats and dogs. After Mario agrees to help him, the cloud reveals that he is actually a…frog? I’m not sure what to say to this. Anyway, the frog, whose name is Mallow, then joins your team in order to catch the thief. As you near the edge of the town, you will see a Toad bouncing up and down. He tells you that he just saw the thief run out of town, and points you in the direction that he went. When Mallow asks the Toad why he didn’t stop the thief, the Toad gives the best answer I’ve ever read a Toad give, “Because I left my bazooka at home! Sheesh… Give me a break, here.”

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00034 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00035 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00036 Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars_00037

When you find the thief, he will run to the next area, but not before teasing you and saying that there’s no way you’ll ever catch him. And as of right now, I still haven’t caught him. Although both Mario and Mallow have leveled up during the chase, and Mario learned Fire Orb, which is something that I have no idea how to use. Seriously, how do you use it? Anyway, hopefully I’ll catch that thief in the next part of Super Mario RPG.

Later.

Current Emotion: This Cannot Be

I finished the storyline for Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy. So. Many. Plot twists. I won’t spoil it here, though, so don’t worry. By the way, I was right about Sycamore, just thought I’d tell you awesome readers that. I still have some puzzles to do, but after that, I’ll have to find a new game to play. Maybe I’ll finish Megaman, but I don’t know. Do any of you awesome readers have any requests as far as playing games go? If you do, leave a comment stating what game you’d like to read about me playing. Who knows, maybe a game you requested will be the next one mentioned on this blog.

Anyway, I mentioned to another blogger by the name of Stina that I had done an animation edit. So, now I’m going to post it below. Unfortunately, I lost the original gif, but it’s really the same thing just without the tears. I was working on a Shadow the Hedgehog and Maria Robotnik video, and the song I was using required a scene of Maria crying to go along perfectly with it. So, I searched through all of her appearances in Sonic X, and wouldn’t you know it, she never cries in the series. Since I couldn’t find a scene with her crying, I took a scene that looked like she could be crying, and added tears. And, even though you can’t really tell, I also blurred her eyes when she starts to fall down. Now, here’s the gif!

This Reminds Me of a Puzzle…

Current Emotion: Oh, no. I found a hidden puzzle.

So, recently I bought a copy of Professor Layton and the Azran Legacies. I had to go to four different stores to get the game, and it is totally worth it. I have a theory about Professor Sycamore, but for just in case I’m right, I don’t think I’ll post it here for spoiler reasons. But if you really want to know, you can leave a comment asking what my theory is, and I will tell you. Anyway, in this Professor Layton game, you are trying to solve the mysteries left by the Azran, the oldest known race of humans. Basically, the Azrans are the Atlantians of the Professor Layton series. The only way to solve the mysteries they left behind is to help their messenger, Aurora. Unfortunately, Aurora doesn’t know that she is the messenger, which also means she doesn’t remember anything about where the Azran Eggs (items which contain the secrets of the Azran) are. But if she knew where they were, Level 5 wouldn’t have been able to have a puzzle where you had to find the locations of the Eggs. Just like all of the other Professor Layton games, Azran Legacies has amazing puzzles. Some that are easy, others that are so hard you have to Google the answers. Right now I am working on getting my first Egg. But first I have to help out the chief of the village…

Anyway, point is, it’s a great game. Anyone who likes mysteries, puzzles, great story lines, action and adventure games, or all of the above, should really check it out.

Mega Man Battle Network #136

Okay, so I played Megaman today, and I’m still working on getting those upgraded Navi Chips. After defeating Woodman, and not getting a high enough busting level, I decided to take on Masa and Sharkman.EXE. After a couple of tries, I finally defeated him. I was so happy. I had never defeated him before. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a high enough busting level to get his Navi Chip. I tried to defeat him a few more times, and lost each time. So after that crushing experience, I decided to head back to the Undernet to fight some more Elecman copies, and hopefully get his upgraded Navi Chip. I didn’t find any today, though. And that’s what I got done in Megaman.

Now, if you’re one of my super awesome readers who reads my blog frequently, you’ll notice that I didn’t put up a post Saturday. Don’t worry, nothing bad happened. I had went shopping with my Mom, Dad, younger sister, older sister, brother-in-law, two nephews, and one niece. It was pretty late when we got back from shopping, so I didn’t feel like making a post. And I don’t post on Sundays, because it’s a church day. And on Monday I knew I would be making a post today, so I just decided to not fool with it. Sorry if anyone’s disappointed.

I Played Something Other than Megaman!

That’s right. I did. I played Disney’s Donald Duck: Going Quackers. Which is a really fun game for the Nintendo 64. Unfortunately, because it is on the N64, I didn’t get any screenshots. The game is also relatively short, I started around 2:00, and by 5:40 I was already half-way done with the second to last level. My only real complaint is that because I’m playing the game on an emulator, whenever I talk to a character (namely Donald’s nephews) they keep doing their talking animation in a continuous loop, even after they finish speaking. As a result, even though I collect all of the toys that Donald’s nephews ask for, I can’t return them because it requires talking to the nephews! This doesn’t prevent me from finishing the game, but it does prevent me from getting it 100% done. Anyway, if you’ve never played the game, why? Why haven’t you played it? It really is a great game, with smooth game play, interesting levels, and excellent (and pretty annoying) bosses. So, if you haven’t played it yet, you really should.

I’m Back to Playing Megaman!

Mega Man Battle Network #133

YAY! I’m finally back to playing Megaman! At least, I’m back to playing it for now… Anyway, after about two more tries, I finally got the upgraded Iceman Navi Chip I had been trying to get the last time I played. I think the regular Iceman Chip had 60 attack points, and the upgraded one has 80. So, that’s a pretty good power up.

Mega Man Battle Network #134

I also tried to get an upgraded Numberman Navi Chip, but apparently it doesn’t exist. What makes me say that? Well, usually when you get a busting rank higher than 5, you get a new chip. And I got a busting rank 7, and all I got was a lot of money.

Mega Man Battle Network #135

After trying to get Numberman’s upgraded chip, I decided to go for Protoman’s. I’m not sure if it exists, but if it does, it’s going to be one powerful chip. Protoman’s regular Navi Chip has a power level of over 9000 140, so an upgraded chip would probably have 160 or so. Unfortunately, Protoman proved to be to difficult for me to defeat right now, the only rank I managed to get was 1.

Mega Man Battle Network #19

Since Protoman didn’t work out, I decided to try to get Woodman’s upgraded Chip next. I haven’t succeeded in this yet, but I have modified my Chip Folder just for the purpose of defeating him.

Yeah, that’s all I got done in Megaman, but that’s better than nothing. Anyway, do you awesome readers think I should continue doing the “Current Emotion” with GIFs, or normal pictures? Also, we are still looking for volunteers for Project Imagination; any help is welcome. In other news, I think I’m going to be changing my posting schedule to every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Unless, of course, something more important comes up, then my posts will be one or two days late.

Lastly, here’s a picture I found earlier that I think every Pokemon fan will enjoy.
